Cristol picks up 3 key endorsements before first Debate
Arlington, VA -- Democratic candidate for Arlington County Board Katie Cristol earned several significant endorsements this week, indicating Cristol’s growing support among party activists.
Arlington County Commissioner of Revenue Ingrid Morroy, former South Arlington state delegate Karen Darner and former Arlington County Democratic Committee Chairman Kevin Appel have all endorsed Cristol’s candidacy in the June 9 Democratic primary.
“Katie is dedicated to preserving Arlington's diversity and sustainable development and, coupled with her ideas for a more responsive and inclusive government, she will prove to be an effective member of the Arlington County Board,” said Morroy.
Citing her own experience as both a past member of the Commission on the Status of Women and an Arlington County educator, Darner said, “As a County Board member, I know Katie will be an insightful advocate for Arlington women, families and children.”
“This is a transitional time for Arlington County,” Darner went on to say. “Katie will be an energetic advocate for our shared Democratic values like outstanding schools, diversity, smart growth and community engagement. Her candidacy offers both the enthusiasm and background to champion our liberal vision throughout Arlington in the years to come.”
“As a Democratic Party activist for over 40 years, I am very impressed with the energy, intuition, and passion Katie Cristol brings to her candidacy, along with her public policy background from Princeton. She has what it takes to serve us well on the Arlington County Board,” said Appel.
Cristol, an education professional, has gathered support from party leaders as well as activists, elected officials and school volunteers in Arlington. Cristol said she is proud to have the support of such esteemed Arlington leaders and longtime community members.
“Voters understand that I am passionate about creating a prosperous, welcoming County, so that Arlington can continue to attract and retain new and lifelong residents, those who want to start a business and those who want to grow a family. I’m honored to have the support of such accomplished Democrats who have a long history of service here in Arlington.”
Cristol, who lives on Columbia Pike with her husband and Shetland sheepdog, is a first-time candidate for County Board. Her experience in Arlington leadership includes serving on the Arlington Commission on the Status of Women and the APS Advisory Committee on Instruction.
