Dear friends,

Working with communities all over the U.S. as an education policy consultant, I know just how special Arlington County is. Our considerable financial resources and geographical advantages are matched by the time and talents given generously by our neighbors. From my work in Arlington’s citizen commissions and as a volunteer, I know that ours is a community powered by civic engagement. Decades of thoughtful investment and transit-oriented development have made Arlington a vibrant, award-winning community. Our educators and families make Arlington Public Schools among the nation’s best.

But Arlington is also at a crossroads. Citizens are ready to move forward after difficult debates about public investments, and we need leaders open to new solutions for the challenges that we continue to face, including a high commercial vacancy rate, affordability for the middle class, transportation in South Arlington and a school capacity crisis. And too many Arlingtonians feel their perspectives and voices are underrepresented in our discussions  of Arlington’s future. The County Board needs renewed energy - and representation of all Arlingtonians - to tackle these problems with fresh insight.

I’d be honored to have your support. Please consider joining my campaign as we fight to make Arlington an even better place to live, work, lead and raise a family.

Katie, many senior citizens and othersnon fixed incomes are being crushed by excessive Arlington Countyn property taxes. How woul you address this issue? I have lived in Arlinton for over 30 years and expect to remain here for the duration. However, Arlington County’s fiscal program is affecting our ability to pay.
